Presents a Symposium on

Global Analysis of Complex Genetic Systems

      on Saturday, April 21, 2001
     9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
The MSU/DETROIT COLLEGE OF LAW BUILDING
     ROOM 471

Symposium Description
Recent advances in bacterial, fungal, plant, animal, and human genome projects have elevated genetic research to a new level. In concert, emerging computational and experimental tools have provided novel strategies to investigate biological processes across organisms on a genomic scale. Experts from divergent fields will present exciting new developments in bacterial, plant, and animal functional genomics and bioinformatics. Presentations will include gene expression profiling of cancer, transcriptional analysis of plant embryos, genome-wide analysis of transcription factors in Arabidopsis, metabolic reconstruction across bacteria, and the identification of genetic variation in humans. The goal of this eclectic symposium is to provide a cross-section of activities in this exciting field to students and researchers with an interest in genomics.

Poster Session
Program participants who wish to present a research poster (4'x4') are invited to do so. Please email a poster title to the Genetics Program Office (genetics@pilot.msu.edu) no later than April 2, 2001. Graduate students from the Genetics Program at Michigan State University are particularly encouraged to present their work.
