Presents a Symposium on

Exploring the Genetic Basis of Human Disease

      on Saturday, March 30, 2002
     9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
     Biophysical Science Building
     ROOM 1415

Symposium Description
The study of human genetic disease is all encompassing and includes everything from the clinical features of disease to gene identification and gene function. Understanding gene function leads us to the pathophysiology of the disease, which then reveals the underlying cause of the clinical features of the disorder. The identification of human disease genes is only one of the first steps toward understanding the genetic and biochemical basis of human disease. This symposium will attempt to explore human genetic disease from clinical aspects to newer technologies that are facilitating gene identification to model systems that are providing insight into the pathophysiology of human disease.

Poster Session
Program participants who wish to present a research poster (4’ x 4’) are invited to do so. Please e-mail a poster title to the Genetics Program Office (genetics@msu.edu) no later than March 15, 2002. Graduate students from the Genetics Program at MSU are particularly encouraged to present their work.
